The work i made using visual programming languages. I made movies to show the interaction.
This program turns the webcam footage into a shell mozaïc. I found these cute tiny shells at the beach one day. That evening I photographed them and started writing this program in openFramworks. I like to be inspired by little things like this.
I made this in processing. You can 'paint' your webcam-vision in triangles using your mouse. By pressing the 'x' and 'z' key's you can resize the triangles. I really like the effect of the abstract painting you get, it makes you more aware of the colours that are in the image.
A snapshot of the original webcam-vision at the moment the painting above was made.
Entitled 'the spinning wait cursor'. This i made for a project for school where we had to communicate an emotion. My emotion was anger. And my starting point was the spinning wait cursor you get when your mac crashes. There is an intersting contrast in this object. On the hand it looks cheerfull; with the colours and the spinning. But it's also really annoying.

I wanted to take the anger that people have when their computer crashes and turn this into a relaxed zen-like feeling. I did this by ginving people the idea that their computer has chashed, but slowly sthe spinning wait cursor starts to fill up their entire screen. I covers up everything their so busy with. Only after being exposed to the hypnotizing image of the spinning colours for quite a while, they slowly get back to their busy desktop-screen. With a relaxed feeling, I hope. I made this in processing, which is why it's a bit slow, unfortunately.
Entitled: 'a bumpy ride on paper spiral world', the user can take a ride on my self-made spiral landscape. By pressing the up and down keys the speed can be controlled. I made the design in Illustrator and created it using a lasercutter. I made a timelapse photoserie of the 'journey'. The program is written in openFrameworks.
I wanted to make an object oriënted program. So this is what it turned out to be: a bubble sprouting machine. I made it in processing.
Entitled: 'reading Harry Potter in two minutes', this program anayses the entire book on names. The more frequent a name is used the bigger it is on the screen. Of course you can alayse any text you'd like. I like the way you recognise the development of the story while the program is running.
